Israel is one of 71 countries that have signed the "Kimberly Process",
it was the first one to embrace it as a formal process and used it as an inseparable part of the workflow.
Due to increasing public interest in the Kimberly Process and the subject of Conflict Free Diamonds, and with the intention or re-enforcing a professional code of ethics in the business, the Global Diamond Portal will request a declaration (from each diamantaire) to the effect that all of the polished diamonds (that they will upload onto the database) have been cleared through the "Kimberly Process"; and the rough diamonds (from which the diamonds were cut and polished) have been issued a Kimberley Process Certificate from the country of origin.
Today, this has become a minimum undertaking and an obligation of international diamond dealers and manufacturers (compliance and accountability) that is vital for the integrity of the market (especially with reference to consumer confidence) at every level of the supply chain and diamond pipeline.
Sincerely,
Diamond Portal Team
