The sale in India marks a broadening of the firm’s international sales. The August 12-14 sale salewill see approximately 40,000 carats of recycled melee, breakout and single stones, both certified and non-certified, in all shapes, sizes and qualities.
 

Lucara to Hold Second Tender of Exceptional Stones

Lucara Diamond Corp. is to stage a second Exceptional Stone Tender of goods from the Karowe Mine in Botswana.

The tender will include 16 single diamond lots from the mine, including five diamonds larger than 100 carats. There will also be a small pink diamond, the first to be recovered from Karowe.

‘Winston Legacy’ Sells for Record $26.7 Million at Christie’s in Geneva

Christie’s in Geneva saw a record broken when a D color, flawless, 101.73-carat diamond was bought for $26.7 million, or $254,400 per carat, a new world record at auction for a colorless diamond.
 
Renamed the “Winston Legacy” after its new owner Harry Winston, the diamond was part of the Magnificent Jewels sale which geneated proceeds of $102.14 million. The auction was 86 percent sold by lot and 93 percent by value, the highest result ever for a various-owner jewelry auction at Christie’s.
 

Christie’s New York sells 'Princie' diamond for record $39 million

Christie’s sold the 34.65-carat Fancy Intense Pink diamond – called the Princie diamond – in New York on April 16 for a record $39,323,750 with premium, or $1,135,000 per carat.

The cushion-cut diamond, originating in the fabled Golconda mines in south central India, was acquired by an anonymous collector who bid by phone.

The price smashed the record for a jewel sold at Christie’s. It was formerly held by the $24.3 million sale in December 2008 of the Wittelsbach diamond.

Christie's to hold Magnificent Jewels sale with Princie Diamond in spotlight

Auction house Christie's will commence its spring auction season with a large selection of diamonds and jewelry at its Magnificent Jewels sale in New York on April 16.

Almost 300 jewels, including high-end colored and colorless diamonds, gemstones, natural pearls and signed vintage creations, will be on sale at the auction.

Engagement Ring Napoleon Bought Josephine Sells For Almost $1M

A sapphire and diamond engagement ring bought by Napoleon Bonaparte for his fiancée Josephine sold for well beyond its pre-sale estimate at the Osenat auction firm in France.

The ring was bought for $949,000, with the anonymous bidder paying close to 50 times the $20,000 Osenat had forecast the ring to sell for, said Osenat's Jean-Christophe Chataignier. Adding in the buyer's 25 percent commission to Osenat, brought the total price for the ring to $1.17 million.

Outstanding 74.79 carat diamond could sell for $9 million to $12 million at Sotheby’s

Sotheby’s will put 400 lots with a total presale estimate of more than $35 million up for sale at its annual spring Magnificent Jewels auction in New York on April 17.

The highlight of the sale may be an exceptional 74.79-carat, D, VVS1, potentially flawless, Type IIA, pear-shaped diamond with a presale estimate of $9 million to $12 million.

The pear-shaped stone will be sold a month before Christie’s sells a pear-shaped D color, Type IIA flawless diamond weighing 101.73 carats in Geneva.

Israel's international diamond week event aiming to return global industry to full strength

The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) is leading the international diamond business sector's marketing efforts at a time when it needs to make tremendous efforts to return to profitability and strong growth, IDE President Yair Sahar said in a message to 150 diamond buyers who will be taking part in the US / International Diamond Week.

The event will be held March 17-20 at the Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) in Ramat Gan.
