India's Rajesh Exports jewelry unit posts record holiday season sales

The retail unit of India's Rajesh Exports Ltd, Shubh Jewellers, posted record sales in the Diwali and Christmas holiday seasons of just over $40 million, and sold 743 kilos of gold jewelry.

The jewelry retailer posted a 45 percent rise over sales during the same period last year and an increase of 37 percent over the footfalls [visitor numbers] recorded during the holiday season in 2011.

“We have emerged as the fastest-growing retail brand in the country primarily due to our value for money and latest designs offering to the retail consumers," says Rajesh Exports Chairman Rajesh Mehta in a media release.

The company said it has created 1,000 new designs for the forthcoming wedding season to be introduced from January 15.
