Video camera evidence from the store shows the man talking in a friendly way with the workers while other customers were being dealt with at the Diamonds by Siag store in Manhattan’s diamond district.
A man distracted workers in a Manhattan jewelry store and walked out with $80,000 of diamond earrings.
The thief entered the Diamonds by Siag store in Manhattan’s diamond district and diverted workers while he took a tray full of diamond jewelry, police said.
The man chatted with store workers while other client were being helped.
The thief put the tray under his jacket and walked out of the store.
Store owner Yeheskel Siag said the man quickly left the shop without workers realizing straight away that the earrings were missing.
