IDE Invites WFDB Exchanges to Participate in Diamond Week
The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) wants members of its 29 sister diamond bourses affiliated to the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) to participate in the February 8-12, 2015 Winter edition of its International Diamond Week.
India's GJEPC Denies Sector Selling Diamonds At Large Discounts
The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) says media reports out of India that some diamantaires are selling polished goods at discounts of 5-20 percent due to financing issues as a result of the closure of the Antwerp Diamond Bank (ADB) are incorrect. The GJEPC said the reports were "false and baseless".
Belgian Polished Exports Up On Year In July
Belgian exports of polished diamonds in July rose to $1.381 billion from $1.322 billion a year before, according to figures published by the Antwerp World Diamond Centre (AWDC).
Exports in volume terms last month totaled 756,043 carats, from the figure of 696,684 carats in July 2013.
Exports rose by 35.6 percent in carat terms on the figure for June and increased by 1.4 percent in dollar terms.
HRD Antwerp Announces 16th Design Awards
HRD Antwerp is launching the 16th edition of its international diamond jewelry design completion- with yhis year’s theme being “A la Carte – A Culinary Journey.”
HRD Antwerp says the theme aims to “encourage designers to produce sparkling and copious jewelry, seasoned with diamonds.”
Israel Diamond Exchange Postponing International Diamond Week
The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) said it is postponing the summer edition of the International Diamond Week that was scheduled to be held from September 1 to 4.
The IDE quoted the continuing tensions in the region as the reason for the postponement.
GIA Head Susan Jacques To Be Guest Of Honor At Israel Diamond Week
The Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) reports that GIA President and CEO, Susan Jacques, will be the guest of honor of the International Diamond Week to be held September 1-4.
Jacques was invited to attend the show by IDE President Shmuel Schnitzer.
DDC, GJEPC Happy With First Indian Diamond Week
Organizers of the first India Diamond Week held at the Diamond Dealers Club (DDC) in conjunction with the Gems & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) have praised the success of the event.
Significant business transactions and new connections were made on the DDC’s Trading floor by U.S. and overseas participants, including DDC members and exhibitors from abroad, the DDC said in a statement.

Jewelers Vigilance Committee Presents Award to Brad Brooks-Rubin
The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) presented the Stanley Schechter Award to Brad Brooks-Rubin for his work as the Special Advisor for Conflict Diamonds while serving at the US State Department.
The award was made at the JVC's annual luncheon event. It brought together industry members from the jewelry trade.
The keynote speaker was former Assistant Secretary of State Jose Fernandez.
Sarin Technologies Launches New Polishing Process Software
Sarin Technologies has launched a new version of its polished-diamond quality assurance and polishing process control software, called the Instructor TM 3.0, after 18 months of development work.
The new software runs on many of Sarin’s rough and polished diamond modeling platforms of the DiaExpert and DiaMension families, including the popular DiaMension HD and DiaScan S+ systems.
