The September edition of the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, an important diamond industry tradeshow, starts today (Wednesday).
The fair is split into two venues, with the AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) running until September 15.
The AWE show is for exhibitors of diamonds, jewelry raw materials, equipment and packaging. The Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) part of the show, from September 13 to 17, is for exhibitors of finished jewelry.
The show is forecast to attract more than 50,000 visitors and 3,500 exhibitors from 48 countries and regions.
The diamond pavilion alone covers in excess of 16,000 square meters, and hosts more than 400 diamond companies.
There are diamond companies from 22 countries and regions in the diamond and gemstone pavilions, including from Brazil, China, Colombia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, India Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States, and the International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA).
In addition, more than 1,400 Hong Kong companies are exhibiting, and 1,600 gemstone companies from across the globe are exhibiting rough and polished gemstones.
